Watch Amy Petterson’s Interview with Jason Schwartz on Maui Neutral Zone!

Watch Amy Petterson’s interview with Jason Schwarts! Featuring topics such as taxing empty vacation homes worth over $5 million, discussions on rental control, and different policies to help local businesses and Maui’s self-reliance through new agricultural parks!

Note: After further research and discussion with other candidates, Amy Petterson would like to clarify her statement on lowering mortgage costs through rental control (meant to be rental stabilization NOT a harsh rent control cap). Rent stabilization works best when there is supply, as Maui moves forward to making more supply, this may help in reducing homeowner costs due to how supply and demand works.

In addition, after a proposal made by Allen Lloyd (Wailuku Council Candidate), Petterson fully agrees with introducing exemptions for rentals if they are on the same property as the homeowner’s primary residence. Mahalo!
